Dr. Susan Distasio, D.O.

Dr. Susan Distasio is a board certified Diplomat of the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (ABPMR), a Board Certified Sports Medicine Doctor and a Fellow of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (AAPMR). She is also trained in interventional spine procedures and electrodiagnostic testing. Her emphasis is restoring function via comprehensive approach in the treatment of musculoskeletal injuries, including those to the spine.

Dr. Distasio received her college degree in Natural Science from Fordham University in New York, NY. She then received her medical degree from the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Distasio completed a Traditional Rotating Internship at Long Beach Medical Center where she was awarded Intern of the Year. She completed a Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation residency at New York University, Rusk Institute of Rehabilitation Medicine, where she also served as Chief Resident.

Following residency, Dr. Distasio completed a Fellowship in Interventional Spine and Sports Medicine at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey- Newark.

Dr. Distasio is a member of several professional associations, including American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and the International Spine Intervention Society. She was awarded the ISIS 2013 Fellow abstract of the year award for her research of spinal procedure safety via Kambin’s Triangle.

Dr. Distasio is a firm believer that maintaining an active lifestyle is beneficial for the overall well being of her patients. She enjoys exercising, reading and traveling.

Dr. Distasio also speaks two foreign languages: Italian and Spanish language.
